The Bismarck Palm Tree, scientific name Bismarckia nobilis, is one of the most desired fan palms in Florida. Bismarckia nobilis is also known as Bismark Palm, Bismarckia Palm, Nobilis Palm. The Bismarck Palm is native to the island of Madagascar which is off the east coast of Africa. It was a relatively recent introduction to Florida landscapes.
Bismarck Palm Tree Description
It is a fast growing palm tree that has dramatic silver-blue leaves that will give you nice shade and screening. This palm may reach an ultimate height of 30-40 ft with a spread of 20 ft or more.
Even young specimens that have yet to form a trunk sport full crowns of about 25 leaves with the maximum spread! Growth rate in 5 years, from 3 feet planted, is about 15 – 18 feet high by 10 – 12 feet wide.

The Bismarck Palm are fairly cold hardy and can tolerate cold down to 23F when mature enough. It’s a great tree for gardeners who want a low maintenance palm tree. Adapts to many kinds of soil and likes full sun. If you don’t have a sunny spot, don’t worry it will tolerate some shade.
